Almost as much as Republicans hate to admit FDR's deficit spending policies pulled America back from the brink of anarchy. That if those policies would have been left alone and not scaled back because of worries about the amount of debt created we would have been out of the depression by 1938.

So you beleive that special interest groups should be suppressed. I agree so lets suppress the banking industry that caused the 2008 economic meltdown through unethical dealings. Let suppress industries that pollute the air and water for economic gain. Let suppress the top 1% economic rape of the middle class (over 70% of the increase in wealth from 2000 to 2010 has went to the top 1%). Or have you just started to realize what happens when you suppress the rights of one group for benefit of the many it leaves all of us in danger of being suppressed for the "good" of the many.
Also, wouldn't the actions being taken by the Republican states show that they do not beleive that America's economic problems are short term. That they feel most young Americans will never come close to the lifestyle and wealth of their parents and grandparents. I realize that none of the governors has publicly stated this position, but I at least, infer that that is their position by the actions they are taking.

There is a much more sinister plan in the works. Republicans in Wisconsin already made mention of it. The Republican Party wants to eliminate minimum wage. In effect the Republican Party wants to go back to the good 'old' days when employers could pay whatever they wanted, require employees to work until they drop and have workers beaten by the boss's thugs. Sadly, American workers just don't seem to understand the seriousness of the situation.

You know what I think? I think American wars are inextricably linked to inflation and economic troubles, and it's borderline scandalous how we ignore that in favor of *any*thing else we can argue about. ...because no one wants to appear "unpatriotic" by questioning the war machine, no matter how fiscally stupid it all is.

These wars are paid for basically by debasing the dollar. They result in high "employment" during the actual conflict, if you can call shooting brown people on the other side of the planet a job, but the debt skyrockets, and everything else flounders due to lack of investment. Then after the GIs come home, and it comes time to pay the tab... Bang! "Uhoh! I guess we'd better cut welfare & education programs, derp!" ...We're idiots.

Of course, if you want to be persnickety about it, we've been in some degree of armed conflict or at best a couple years pause between them, for almost a hundred years now.

The idea that conservatives want to bring about a Christian version of sharia law is a myth propagated by liberals and the liberal media. Wishful thinking on their part but it simply isn't true. Repeating it over and over doesn't make it true.

Guess what, comrades: I'm an evangelical Christian and I'm voting for Romney, and I have absolutely no worries at all that he's going to try to impose Mormon law on the rest of us. Because that's how America works, kids: we have no official state religion and we're not going to. The first amendment guarantees it. What it *doesn't* guarantee is that you'll never be exposed to other people's religions.

What Ohio Tea Party leaders? When, and in what forum did they supposedly make these statements? In what way did they intend to "hurt teachers unions", and for what purpose?

The battle here has CLEARLY AND ALWAYS been about the teachers unions protecting tenure and poor teacher performance. At the present time, it is not possible to fire a teacher in Ohio except in the case of a criminal act, or violation of contract terms. Any attempt to improve the quality of education in public schools MUST be coupled with a way to remove poor performing and non-performing teachers, else be doomed to the same failures which every previous effort has experienced.

How do Tea Party members believe passing SB5 would help remove Obama or Brown? Would it somehow remove the voting rights of anyone? Would it somehow change the minds of some voters, and if so, could it possibly be because their view was faulty in the first place?

I just read a summary of SB5, and it appears to be designed to prohibit union activities which are CLEARLY to the detriment of the public which they serve, and from whom they derive their livelihood (with pay and benefit levels FAR ABOVE those of the vast majority of the people whom they serve). The good old bait and switch. Blame the weak while the powerful get away with everything. Rather than having corporations pay a reasonable amount of tax, we would like to go back to the days when teachers made pittance wages. Perhaps would should look at what they are doing in Finland where they have eliminated standardized testing, and teachers are well compensated and prestigious. Paying teachers less, taking away their benefits, and creating baseless standardized testing is not making our education system better. Ultimately as a kid you have to have a voracious appetite for reading and knowledge outside the classroom, or the luck for your parents to be able to afford a private prestigious school for you.

It surely will not hurt the wealthy stay at home moms - but will hurt any that rely on different services Mitt and Ann seem to be out of touch with the moms who have to worry about how to plan for day care, provide for school lunches, and staying within a budget. Romneys problem is not their wealth but their inability to see beyond that worldand the everyday hardships many face and to not care. Actually he sterotypes the repubican party quiet well. and what they have become - a party for one group of people only - the rich .
